Hiring an employee or freelancer
Employment Contract
Personal employment contract between an employer in Israel and an employee it hires directly: role, pay, hours, leave and confidentiality.
About this agreement
Prepare a personal employment contract between an employer in Israel and an employee it hires directly. Organize the role, start date, pay, working hours and benefits before you open the guided form. If the signed contract includes every detail the law requires and is given to the employee on time, it can also serve as the written notice of employment terms.
Check the scope before you start
Read these scope conditions before starting. The guided form asks you to confirm each statement.
The employee is 18 or older and will work in Israel for this employer directly, not through a manpower or service contractor.
Young workers and workers placed through a manpower or service contractor have additional legal requirements. If this is not true, this template is not suitable — consult a lawyer before continuing.
I checked whether a collective agreement or a sector extension order applies to this job, and this contract does not reduce any right the employee has under law.
A term worse than the law, an extension order or an applicable collective agreement does not bind the employee.
What the guided form covers
The published form is organized into these topics. Some questions appear only when relevant to your answers.
Template suitability
This contract is for one adult employee hired directly by an employer in Israel. Confirm that this applies, then choose the basic arrangement.
Employer details
Enter the employer’s details. For a company, partnership or association, also enter who signs on its behalf.
Employee details
Enter the employee’s details as they appear on their ID card.
The job
Describe the role, where the employee works, when the job starts and the working week.
Pay and benefits
All amounts are gross, before income tax and deductions. Rights the law already gives are included automatically.
Pension and savings
Pension contributions start as the law requires; choose the severance rate and any study fund.
Confidentiality and other terms
Protecting information, rights in inventions and works, and commitments after the job ends.
Notice and signing
Last details before you review the contract. Create the contract in a language the employee reads well; a copy in another language is only a convenience translation.
What to prepare before you start
Have the employer’s legal name, registration number and workplace address ready, together with the employee’s full name, ID number, address and contact details. Note who will sign for the employer.
Write down the job title, the main duties, the direct supervisor, the place of work, the start date and whether the job is full-time, part-time or hourly.
Agree on the gross pay, working days and weekly hours, the weekly rest day, any global-overtime component, the probation period, notice, vacation and sick days. Check that the pay is not below the minimum wage for the agreed scope of work.
Note the pension fund the employee has chosen, if any, and the arrangements for equipment, expenses, remote work, confidentiality and work products. Check whether a collective agreement or a sector extension order gives the employee better terms.
What to check before signing
Compare the contract with what was agreed and with the employee’s mandatory rights: a contract cannot reduce rights under law, extension orders or an applicable collective agreement. Have a lawyer or an employment-law adviser review post-employment restrictions, global overtime and any non-standard term before signing.
This preparation guide helps you organize information. It does not determine whether a template fits your circumstances or replace advice from a qualified Israeli lawyer.
From your details to a document
- Open the guided form and enter the details requested for your agreement.
- Review names, amounts, dates and any choices in your answers. Correct missing or inconsistent information before finalizing.
- When the document is available to your account, download the PDF and review the full text with the other party before signing.
After you download
- The employer and the employee both sign the contract, and each keeps a signed copy.
- Give the employee the signed contract no later than 30 days after work begins (7 days for an employee under 18). Under the Notice to Employee and Job Candidate Law, a contract that contains all the required details satisfies the duty to give written notice of employment terms.
- Set up payroll and pension arrangements as the contract and the pension extension order require, and keep the contract with the employment records.
- If the role, pay, hours or another key term changes, give the employee written notice of the change — generally within 30 days, or 7 days for an employee under 18 — or sign an amendment.
